We do it every month but it never gets old. The group is officially called Cleveland Brewery Runs and actually started 2.5 years ago with about 12 people who enjoy two things: beer & running. Since then it has grown into what it is today- a rather large group of goofy, like-minded people who simply enjoy getting together to sweat a little and drink a little more.
Some will go out for 3 miles while others will take on our long route with our highlight every year being our Heathltoberfest (a full on scavenger hunt through the streets of Cleveland similar to the Lucky Hunt that will happen in two weeks).
This past month brought us to Sibling Revelry Brewery in Westlake, Ohio, and mother nature was far too kind to us. Minus the hick-up of trying to check in 110 runners into our new loyalty program, we had a temp of about 58 degrees come start time which is ideal for an evening run.
As the runners returned, it was great catching up and seeing what races they are training for, what their weight loss goal may be, how their legs felt out there, or (my favorite) what kind of beer they are going to try. See, there have been studies that craft breweries do amazing things for the local economy and with runners being some of my favorite people in the world, I think we are bringing together the best of both worlds. Our group runs may just be a casual way to meet new friends, try new beers, and burn a few calories, but it truly a site seeing a crowd of 100+ people come together in the name of running, beer, & CLE.
We meet the 4th Wednesday of every month with the full schedule on display on our 'Group Runs' page. This month's will be at Masthead on Wednesday, March 28th!
